I Saw Her Standing There

11 months old!

Halfway through December already!  Wow, where does the time go?  Lennon turned 11 months old yesterday.  A few days before her 11 month birthday she decided to stand herself up!  She was reaching for a mug I had on the coffee table and couldn't quite get it and then, pop, up she went onto her feet.  I managed to catch her trying again on video (see below).  She is now up on her feet all the time and starting to try to climb up onto things too.  She's even done a small shuffle while standing at the couch.  Oh boy!

Yesterday we had our Christmas get together with Fred's family at our place.  Unfortunately, Pugga was sick and didn't make it:(  We FaceTimed Auntie Holly in for a bit so she could still be a part of it even though she's in Nashville.  It was a nice evening with Lennon being spoiled, of course.  Lots of new toys around here now!  We had a yummy (if I do say so myself!) lasagna dinner and everyone was packed up and outta here, Lennon fast asleep in bed, by 8:00.

Tomorrow Lennon and I head out to Ontario.  Today is last minute laundry and packing day.  I think Lennon's stuff is filling a whole large suitcase!  How can such a small person have so much stuff!  Fred comes out on Sunday so I guess if we forget anything he can bring it!

Please Mr. Postman (Santa!)

Christmas activities are in full swing around here.  We had a busy weekend.  On Saturday we held our annual Christmas Season Opener party.  We had a full house and a great time.  Lennon actually went to bed at her usual time and fell asleep (and stayed asleep) through all the noise!  She also graciously slept in until almost 9 am which is unheard of!  We were very thankful since it was a very late night for us!  We got up and headed out for Christmas brunch where Lennon met Santa for the first time.  She happily bounced herself up and down on his knee - no crying for this kid!  We also celebrated Pugga's birthday on the weekend with Auntie Holly coming into town for a surprise visit.  Lots going on!

Here, There and Everywhere

December already...where does the time go?!  This year has just flown by.  Soon Lennon will be 11 months old, soon she'll be a year old!  What?!

We are in full on Christmas mood around here.  My Christmas baking is done.  We decorated the house and put up the tree a couple of weekends ago already.  We have been listening to Christmas music since then as well.  Gotta love it!  Lennon has only crawled up to the tree a couple of times to try to take a ball off.  So far, so good!

A couple of weekends ago we had some nice weather so we went to Heritage Park to see their Christmas displays.  It was a beautiful day.  They had lots to see.  There was more to do for older kids.  Something to remember for when Lennon is older and into activities.  It was just a nice day to get outside and walk around.  We've had some major (major!) cold since then and a ton of snow.  It's much better this week.  It's funny how -5 all of a sudden feels warm!

The next couple of weeks are busy with Christmas parties as well as our usual routine things.  And then in two weeks Lennon and I head to Bowmanville.  Fred will join us a bit later - someone has to work!  I'm looking forward to it.  It will be fun for Lennon to see Grandma and Gramps B and her cousins (and Auntie and Uncle too of course!)!

Lennon continues to do great and to be a happy little girl.  She loves to crawl around and follow us wherever we go.  On the weekends it's definitely Fred that she follows the most.  It's very cute!  She sure loves her dada!  She has started to wave sometimes now.  She pulls herself up on her knees all the time and gets one leg out but hasn't pushed up to her feet yet.  Her favourite things to play with are her socks (which she pulls off constantly), towels (pulled from the kitchen), Fred's slippers (ew!), and the tag on the corner of our living room rug.  Who needs toys?!  She does play with her toys too.  Her favourite toys are the stacking rings (no stacking yet, just pulling them off and crawling around with them in her hands), the activity cube with the beads on top, and books (mostly pulling them out of the bin).  She's a lot of fun!

Wild Honey Pie

Lazy blogger here.  Time just flies and I realize I haven't written in a while.  Oops!

Lennon is 10 months old now!  She's doing great.  Crawling everywhere...and fast.  She pulls herself up on her knees and has shown some signs of trying to put a foot up but isn't getting to her feet yet.  If she's on her knees against one of us on the couch she does crawl up and get on her feet.  She's quite interested in her toys and books now.  Her favourite thing is to pull books out of the bin and to play with the stacking rings (takes them off but doesn't put them back on yet).  She'll hold a ring and crawl with it across the floor.  She loves to follow me around.  If I'm in the kitchen she is there at my feet in no time.  She tends to get a bit cranky around the time when I'm getting dinner ready.  I've started putting her in her seat to watch me and giving her a little snack.  It keeps her happy and gives me some peace to get dinner going!

Lennon is eating all kinds of things now.  (No honey yet).  She tries everything!  Recent things she liked that were a bit of a surprise are olives and a pasta we had with some spicy chicken sausage in it!  She's adventurous!  I haven't come across anything she doesn't really like.  She does have some trouble with plain chicken since it's hard to chew/mash in her mouth.  But there hasn't been anything she refuses to eat.  Hopefully this continues!  We typically feed her whatever we're having for dinner.  Sometimes she gets a packaged baby food if we're out or having something that isn't good for her - like pizza night (although she loves to chew on a piece of crust)!  For breakfast she has her infant cereal (loves it) and lunch is usually some leftovers, or a piece of toast with peanut butter, and some yogurt and fruit.  She's a good eater!  She still breastfeeds four times a day as well.

Last week Lennon had her first dentist visit!  I had an appointment for myself so I thought I'd take her in too since she's supposed to be checked around a year old anyway.  Close enough.  It was a quick one for her - no cleaning...haha!  The doc just had a quick peek at her little teeth.  No cavities!  She has four teeth and two more coming through.  We brush every night before bed.  Some nights it's a fight and she shuts her mouth tight.  We have to wait for her to open her mouth to cry to get in there.  Other nights she is ok with it and sucks on the toothbrush.  I think the times she refuses must be when her gums are feeling sensitive from the teeth coming in.  We used to use a cloth which was easier than the brush but with two top and two bottom teeth she started biting so brush it is.

Sleep.  Sleep is going well...knock on wood!  Lennon is now consistently sleeping all night.  She goes to bed around 7:30 and will sleep through until just after 7, sometimes later.  Only 10 months to get there!  I suppose that could change again, but I'm hopeful!  She also takes two naps during the day.  One around 9:15 for 45 min to 1hr 15 min and one around 1:30 for an hour or two.

In less than a month now, Lennon and I will head to Bowmanville for Christmas.  Fred will join us a bit later.  We're looking forward to being there with my family and excited that Steve and Heather and the kids will be there too this year!

Well, I hear Lennon waking up from her nap...that was a short one.  I'll have to post some pics later.

I am the Walrus (Ladybug, Shrek, Witch...actually)

Lennon has perfected the crawl.  She moves quite quickly now.  Her favourite things to crawl for are still the curtains but also the lamp plus cord.  Keeps me on my feet!  She's also been sleeping a little bit better.  Last weekend we had three nights in a row with no wake ups!  Wow!  The rest of the week she had a wake up here and there and another full night.  It's still very inconsistent, which is the frustrating part.  Just when you think there's a pattern or a corner has been turned, it all changes!

Last weekend we went to Cobb's Corn Maze with our friends Jerry and Danielle and their little guy, George.  It was cold!  It felt like winter out.  We walked through the maze even though the corn was barely knee high (doesn't make for a very good maze!).  There are lots of games and stuff there too, more for bigger kids though.  It was so cold we had a hot chocolate, took some pics of the kids and then hit the road.

This week we had a little Halloween party with our mommy group.  Our regular weekly gathering except all the kids were dressed in their costumes.  There were four ladybugs, Lennon being one of them!  It was very cute, but very difficult to get a group picture!  Just about all of the babies are on the move now.

Friday was Halloween.  Lennon was just the most adorable little ladybug!  Fred's office had a costume contest and they had a lunch for everybody so I dressed up in my witch costume and took my ladybug over there.  Everyone in the office except one person was dressed up!  Fred actually won the contest with his Shrek costume!  Lennon, surprisingly, wasn't scared by any of the costumes, not even dad in a large green mask.  She just stared and looked around at everyone.

Halloween evening we went for an early walk and then we were home to hand out candy.  Last year we only had 1 kid at the door so I wasn't expecting much but still wanted to be prepared!  We ended up having 22 kids to the door.  Fred donned his Shrek mask to greet them at the door.  He only scared one little boy!

We are currently getting our first snowfall.  Well, besides that freak snowstorm we had in September!  It feels so cold.  I guess winter is coming:(  Time to start thinking about a warm winter holiday!?!

Across the Universe (or Living Room!)

Well, Lennon is officially on the move!  It started out with her figuring out that she could pull herself forward with her arms.  She spent only two days dragging herself around and then was up on her knees.  After a couple of days of a few steps on the knees followed by the legs splaying out behind her, she has figured it all out.  She now crawls consistently up on her hands and knees.  Our baby gates arrived this week just in time!  Must install right away!  She's definitely not interested in staying in one place anymore.  Her favourite thing, and what gets her to crawl the fastest, is to go for the curtains.  She's also starting to show interest in what might be up on top of the coffee table and is trying to pull herself up.  How long until she's on her feet?!?  It definitely changes the game, this whole crawling thing.  No more leaving her to play while I do something in the kitchen and knowing she'll still be safely in the same place when I return.  It is pretty cool to watch her figure out how to move though!  And she's getting quicker and quicker!  Oh boy!

Soon I'll be standing!

Twist and Shout

October already.  In a few days Lennon will be 9 months old!  A couple of days ago I turned 38 (?!?) years old.  What have we been doing in the last month...

At the end of September we took a trip to Nashville.  We first had a short visit with Uncle Steve who was in Calgary for the weekend.  Of course it was the weekend that we were leaving.  It was great to be able to see him before we left though!  Lennon did great on the flights.  There is no direct flight from Calgary so we had to connect through Minneapolis.  It was a long day.  Lennon was happy and took naps and was great.  She complained a bit on the descent into Nashville but nothing major.  We had a great week in Nashville visiting Holly and enjoying the summer-like weather!  Lennon loved Holly's chihuahua, Chickadee.  She would squeal at her and lean over to watch her walk around.  It was cute.  Chickee wasn't quite as thrilled with Lennon.  It took Lennon a few nights to get used to sleeping in her travel crib and in a new place.  She woke up a few times those first nights but then got comfortable and was up only once a night after that.  We spent some time shopping and mostly just hanging out with Auntie Holly.   Lennon rode on a carousel for the first time at the mall.  She loved it.  She had a huge smile on her face the whole time!  Fred had a conference that took up a couple of days too.  A good time was had by all.  I guess it will be a while until we see Auntie H again.  Good thing for FaceTime!

We started a swim class in September at the YMCA.  It's a baby class called L'il Dippers.  Lennon loves it!  The class is all little songs and learning different movements in the water.  Lennon kicks her legs almost constantly in the water and has started splashing with her hands too.  She doesn't even complain when she gets dunked right under!  It's a lot of fun.

We still get together once a week with the moms and babies from our prenatal class.  It's nice to get together with people who have babies at the same stage and are going through the same things.  We spend the afternoon talking, eating, and sharing baby tips.  The babies are now starting to notice each other and will soon be interacting more.  It's neat to see them start recognizing each other.

My birthday was good.  Fred made me breakfast in the morning.  The rest of the day was an average day at home with Lennon.  We went out for dinner with Fred's family that evening.  On Friday night Marianne babysat and Fred and I went out for wine and tapas.  That was really nice!  I also got to go out on Saturday night with Tami.  Lennon did fine with taking a bottle before bed.  She very rarely has a bottle so I wasn't sure how that would go, but it wasn't a problem.

Sleep is still unpredictable.  Or, I should say, once we think there's some sort of pattern she changes it!  She was quite consistently only getting up once in the night for quite a while.  But in the last week she's started getting up a second time.  It makes for a tired mama.

Lennon has two new teeth coming through.  We noticed in Nashville that her top two front teeth were starting to come and have since poked through.  She seems to be doing well with it, no real complaining.  But maybe the change in sleep is a side effect?  She's also trying really hard to crawl.  She does not stay in one place at all.  She is constantly spinning around, pushing backwards, pushing up on her knees, wiggling herself around and sometimes can pull herself forward a bit.  She loves to pull the edges off her foam mat, go for the curtains, and pull on the side table.  On the move!  We just ordered some baby gates:)  Lennon also makes lots of noise.  She loves to babble, squeal and clap her hands!  Maybe there will soon be a "mama" or "dada?!"   She definitely likes to be heard.  Her noises are very cute, such a cute little voice!

(much later)  This post has taken me so long to finish that it's now Lennon's 9 month birthday today!  Two days ago she started crawling.  Well, moving forward anyway.  She pulls herself along with her arms and inches her legs up.
Pictures for this post are going to have to come later.  I still need to get some off of Fred's phone.

It Won't Be Long

8 months old (Sept 14/14)
8 months old!  Wow, time sure does fly!  Lennon is growing and changing so fast.  She is now clapping and will sometimes give a high-five.  No crawling yet, but she's trying to move.  She can turn herself around pretty quickly on her belly and slides backwards sometimes.  She will also get one leg back when she's sitting to try to reach for a toy.  I don't think it will be long until she's completely on the move.  Although, I'm ok with her taking her time with that!  Then it will be time for chasing her around and gates on the stairs... a whole new game!

Bundled up for the snow
We had a September snow storm last week.  It was awful.  Lots of snow that damaged a lot of trees in the city.  Our tree faired ok since there aren't many big branches left on it anyway.  It was cold and white for a few days, it felt like December.  This week is supposed to be back up in the 20s, thank goodness.  The sun is shining again and we can get outside without bundling up!  Oh, Calgary...your weather sucks!

Sleep has improved greatly over the last while.  Knock on wood!  Lennon has given us a few nights of sleeping ALL night!  Wow, does that ever feel good.  Most often she is still up only once, usually around 11 or midnight, and will then sleep until around 7.  She wakes up very calmly in the morning.  She'll lay in her crib and babble a bit and play until I get her at around 7:30.  It's nice that she doesn't wake up crying in the morning.

Lennon is really enjoying food now too.  She loves her cereal in the morning and is gobbling down quite a bit at dinner time too.  Fred made a yummy squash, carrot, onion, and chicken stew that she just loves.  It's fun to watch her try new things.  She still makes a face when there's a new taste but after a couple of bites she leans in for it with mouth wide open.

Any Time at All

It's been a while.  The past two weeks have been great.  Grandma and Gramps were here visiting!  It was wonderful to have them here.  Lennon loved having the extra attention too!  It also gave me some time to run errands on my own, take naps, and relax a bit more!

The weather started off not so great.  We went to the mall to get out - what else do you do in crappy weather?!  After the first couple of days we got some really nice weather again.  We were able to spend time out in the yard and going on walks.  Fred took an afternoon off and we all went to Riley Park where there is a big wading pool.  The water was cold but Lennon didn't seem to mind.  It was a nice way to cool off, it was 28 that day.

We also drove up to Lacombe one rainy day to visit dad's cousin who runs a corn maze.  We had a nice visit.  It drizzled on us a bit but not too bad.  It wasn't nice enough to do the maze but we did ride the tractor train, saw the pig races, and had a tour of all the activities they have there.  It would be a great place to take Lennon when she's older - lots to do!

On the long weekend we spent an afternoon at Heritage Park.  I hadn't been there in quite some time.  It was great!  There's lots to see.  We rode the train and the boat and spent hours wandering around.  The next day we took a drive through Longview, Turner Valley, Bragg Creek (had lunch at the Italian Farmhouse - yum), Canmore, and Cochrane (where we waited 40 minutes for MacKay's ice cream!).  Another good day!

Grandma and Gramps leave tomorrow morning.  We will miss having them here!  They can come back any time!

It's back to school time and if I didn't have friends who were all teachers I probably wouldn't think much about it.  It's a little strange if I do think about it, not starting another school year.  But, I am so glad to have this time with Lennon and wouldn't change that for the world!

Something

Just a short little something...

Lennon is 7 months old!  Well, 7 months and a week now.  She's growing and changing daily.  Last week she had her next round of vaccines.  She did amazing...didn't even cry!  She weighed in at 18lb 2oz!  Getting big!  She still is a very happy girl.  Her new favourite things are to buzz her lips and tongue and to tip her head sideways to look around.  There's also a ton more squealing and babbling.   Lots of "mamama's," but I still don't think she means me yet.  She also loves to play with her toys and will spend quite a bit of time pulling every toy out of the bin.

We've had a much better time with sleeping lately too.  She had a few nights of just getting up once or twice and then a night when she slept the entire night...it was amazing!  Last night she was up just once again.  Hopefully it will continue!

Grandma and Gramps B arrived this morning for a two week visit!  We're excited to have them here!

I'll Follow the Sun

On holidays!  We have been in Penticton for over a week already with the rest of this week to go.  Lennon was great on the long drive out here. She only got a little fussy near the end. We made three stops to feed her and let her have some time out of the car seat.

We're having a great time!  The weather has been perfect. Sunny and in the 30s every day. Holly has been here for the week to visit and see Lennon. Lennon loves hanging out with Auntie. She leaves today, we'll miss her. The only thing that would make our holidays better would be if Lennon would sleep better. She's been getting up fairly frequently again which is making for tired parents!  She's happier than anything though so I guess we can't complain too much.  And we're on a lazy holiday so it's not too bad.

Lennon is loving being able to spend time outside and is also loving the pool. It takes her a bit to get used to it but once she does she starts kicking her legs and giggling. It's very cute!  She's very much into squealing now and is starting to say "mum mum mum."  Although I don't think she's attributed it to me yet. Lennon is sitting up on her own really well now. When she's lying down the majority of her time is spent on her belly. She's starting to try to lift her bum a bit. Soon there will be crawling. Soon it will be time for gates in the house. Soon the days of letting her play on her mat alone will be over. Soon she'll be on the move!

Lennon is slowly starting to take to solid foods. She's still not super keen on it but will take some. We started trying some rice cereal which has gone better than some of the other foods we've tried. I just mixed some apple in with it and she's enjoying that. She still doesn't open her mouth wide for food but instead sort of sucks it of the spoon. She'd much rather just have the breast I think but she'll get there. She's also not very keen on taking breast milk from a bottle either. She will eventually when she realizes that's her only option and only if I'm absolutely nowhere in the vicinity.

On Saturday we celebrated Fred's 38th birthday!  We had a good day. Fred was up early (thanks Leni!) and went out for breakfast and a stroll through the market and a car show that was on that day.i think he enjoyed a bit of quiet morning alone time.  Lennon and I stayed in bed and she ate and slept a bit more. We went for lunch at Terrafina at Hester Creek winery in Oliver. It was yummy!  Then we visited one of our favourite wineries, Silver Sage, for a tasting. Grandma and Paga then took Lennon back to Penticton while Fred, Holly and I took in another wine tasting and drove down to Oosoyos. It was a nice afternoon. Birthday dinner was at Vanilla Pod, another fave. The evening was chill with a cruise through town and down the lakeshore after Lennon went to bed.

I'll have to post pics and some videos when I'm back at my computer. I can't figure out how to from my iPad.

Strawberry Fields Forever

Six Months Old!

Lennon hit 6 months old on the 14th!  Wow, does time ever go fast.  She's growing and changing every day.  She is now able to sit up on her own and is getting better at balancing herself.  She can go quite a while without tipping over now.  She also "talks" a lot more.  It's very cute to hear her babbles and squeals!  She's always full of smiles too.  It's great!  Lennon is happy to spend most of her playtime on her tummy now.  She quickly flips herself over when I put her down on her back and wiggles herself around to get at various toys.  She really likes crinkly things right now.

We were at the doctor for Lennon's 6 month check up yesterday.  She's doing great!  Weighed in at 16 lb 15 oz and measured 27 inches long.  She's in the 75th percentile for length, the 50th for weight, and her head has shrunk down from the 90th to the 75th percentile!  Normally the doctor would be worried about a head size going down so much, but since Lennon's started out so big (thanks, Fred!) she wasn't concerned.  The doc was very pleased with how she's doing overall.
Banana, Sweet potato and chicken (she might be wearing more than she ate!)

We have started to try some solid foods.  She's not too sure about it yet.  We have tried chicken, sweet potato, and banana.  No strawberries yet :)  Her first taste did not go well.  She gagged and spit up!  We had the most success with mixing the sweet potato and chicken together and making it really runny (gross!) although she's still not too keen on it.  Next I think we'll try some carrots and maybe some apples.  It's a fun adventure!  I wonder what the first thing she really takes to will be?

Sleep still continues to be inconsistent.  She's goes down for bed at the same time every night really well now which is great.  However, she is up many (many!) times in the night.  I feel like she has just gotten into the habit of depending on being nursed back to sleep every time she wakes up.  We're not sure that we want to (or can!) let her cry it out in the middle of the night.  It seems cruel.  I am exhausted though so we may have to re-evaluate that in another month if things don't improve on their own!  We'll see.

Getting Better

Well, we've been doing some sleep training for just over a week now and things are getting better!  We changed Lennon's before bed routine.  I was still nursing her to pretty much asleep before.  Now our bedtime routine is: feeding, diaper change, pajamas, wash face/"brush" teeth, read a story, then into bed.  We also stopped putting her in the swaddle sack.  She's just in a regular sleep sack with her arms out.  I think fighting the swaddle may have been causing her to wake up more.  The first few nights of our new routine had some crying but she eventually went to sleep.  We did check ins after 5 minutes and then progressively longer and only had to go in once before she'd settle herself to sleep.  The last two nights she went to sleep with absolutely no crying!  Yay!  It was hard to let her cry a bit but it seems to have worked, or is working!  The night time wake ups have also started to become less frequent.  The first few nights she still got up three or four times.  We made a "rule" that if it was at least 3 hours since her last feed then I'd feed her in the night.  She pretty much followed the 3 hour rule to a tee the first few nights.  The last three or four nights she has only gotten up two to three times.  Last night was particularly good: to bed and asleep by 7:30, up at 11:00 to eat, up at 4:30 to eat, and then up for the day at 7:30.  I'm trying not to get too excited by this as we haven't had much consistency yet.  But it's promising!  Nap times are still inconsistent too.  Although she goes down for her naps at pretty much the same time every day the length of them varies greatly.  She'll nap anywhere from 40 minutes to over an hour and a half.  I do everything the same so I'm not sure what's causing the differences.  She's a happy girl the rest of the time though so she must be getting what she needs!

Twist and Shout

It's been a while since I've posted.  Happy Canada Day!  Hmmm, what's been going on?!

Well, Lennon is rolling over all the time now.  She rolls from her back to her tummy and will play on her tummy for a while.  The last few days she's been lasting longer on her tummy and doing some baby push ups.  After a while she gets mad and can't get herself back over to her back yet.  So I help her roll over and she'll stay on her back for a bit before rolling over again!  She's babbling a lot more now too.  She'll entertain herself with "yayaya," "dadada," and buzzing her tongue and lips.  It's all pretty cute!

More exciting news...Lennon's getting her first teeth!  At 5 and a half months.  There are two teeth starting to poke out on the bottom.  One of them is already coming through, the other can just be seen.  It hasn't seemed to be bothering her.  She's still pretty happy all the time.  She puts absolutely everything in her mouth.  But, so far, no complaining about the teeth!  Fred's dental hygienist suggested wiping her gums with xylitol to help control bacteria which cause the pain.  She swears it works.  We've been using just water up until now, so we'll try that.

Lennon will be six months old in a couple of weeks so we're starting to think about introducing some solid (pureed) foods.  We're looking forward to that and to see what she thinks of it and how she reacts.  More on that when we get there.

We took a last minute trip to Penticton for the long weekend.  Fred had Monday off instead of today so we thought we'd take advantage.  The weather was ok.  In the low 20s and a bit cloudy.  Of course Monday, when we had to leave, was absolutely beautiful and hot.  We had a great time though.  Did lots of walking and got in a couple of swims in the pool too.  It was a bit cool for the beach and the lake is pretty chilly still.  It should be better when we're back at the end of the month.

Sleep is still an issue.  Lennon is waking up four, sometimes five or six, times a night.  I think she's made it a habit to use me to get back to sleep when she wakes up because she's definitely not eating every time.  We all need more sleep.  Waking up a couple of times to eat would be fine.  It's all the extra wake ups.  We're going to try some sleep training.  Hopefully that will help!  I'll keep you posted!

Real Love

Fred had his first Father's Day on Sunday.  He slept in a bit and then I made waffles for breakfast.  Yum!  After breakfast he wrote a practice GMAT test (wrote the actual test this afternoon to apply to an MBA program - he did awesome, of course).  We had lunch at Five Guys, chilled a bit in the afternoon and then had his dad, Todd and Ashton over for steak dinner.  Fred cooked dinner, it was delicious!  Good thing he enjoys cooking and didn't mind doing so on Father's day!

Fred is a great dad to Lennon.  She is always full of smiles for him.  It's awesome to watch her face light up when he gets home from work every day.  He's been busy lately studying for the GMAT but always makes time to spend with Lennon and help out.  He absolutely adores her.  She will probably have him wrapped around her little finger in no time, if she doesn't already!  It really is the best to watch him with her.  Such love!  I feel so lucky!

Lennon is 5 months old now!  Wow, that went fast.  She is now rolling from her back to her tummy (see video) and is completely obsessed with her feet/toes.  Every time I lay her down to change her, her feet spring up and she grabs her toes and brings them to her mouth.  She absolutely loves her Jolly Jumper now.  After a day in the Jolly Jumper she got the hang of it. There's a perma-smile on her face when she's jumping.  It's great!  We've also started to seat her with us when we're having dinner now.  We're starting to think about adding solid foods to her diet when she turns 6 months old.  She really enjoys watching us eat and will stare at our mouths as we chew.  I think she'll be ready to try!

A Day in the Life

A day in the life of Lennon; June 9, 2014.  Almost 5 months old!  I'm going to start at midnight since all of her night time wake ups are definitely a part of our day!  She normally goes to bed between 8:00 and 8:30.  Last night it was closer to 8:45 when she finally settled into sleep.  We still have her in the bassinet beside our bed.  She does take her naps (if we're home) in her crib though.

12:15 am:  wake up, eat
12:35 am:  back to sleep
3:30 am:  wake up, eat
4:00 am:  back to sleep
5:00 am:  wake up, bring into bed and nurse lying down
This is the only way I can get a bit more sleep and feel half way normal in the morning!
5:45 am:  sleeping, I wake up and return her to bassinet
Foot to mouth
6:30 am:  wake up, bring into bed and nurse lying down
7:45 am:  wide awake!  diaper change
8:00 am:  quick visit with Dad before he goes to work
8:15 am:  eat, diaper change (in one end, out the other!)
8:45 am:  play on play mat
She loves to grab for the toys hanging in front of her and pull
them to her mouth.  Her newest thing in the last few days is to
grab her feet and try to get her toes to her mouth.
9:15 am:  play in exersaucer
Loving the Exersaucer
She's starting to jump a bit more in
                exersaucer.  Still most of the
activity is trying to pull different
                parts to her mouth.
9:30 am:  getting cranky, time to start to settle
                                                            down for a nap
                                                            This involves some rocking and
white noise.  It can take 5 minutes to
                                                            20 minutes!
9:40 am:  sleeping!
During her nap I shower, get dressed, throw in some laundry,
load the dishwasher, tidy up etc.  I do as much as I can - she naps
anywhere from 30 minutes to occasionally over an hour,
                usually around 45 minutes.
10:30 am:  wake up from nap
diaper change, get dressed (can't stay in jammies all day!)
                  sit in floor seat, play
11:00 am:  eat, diaper change
11:30 am:  play mat, tummy time
She has still only rolled over a few times.  She gets frustrated pretty quickly on her tummy
but isn't consistently pushing herself up to roll over yet.
12:00 pm:  Jolly Jumper - video is from a couple of days ago, she loves it!

12:30 pm:  ready for nap, read a story
12:45 pm:  sleeping!
Again, I try to do as much as I can around the house.  Sometimes I do just sit and do
                  nothing though!
1:15 pm:  awake...already, diaper change
1:30 pm:  back in the exersaucer
1:45 pm:  eating, rather sleepily this time - why not nap longer?!
2:10 pm:  half asleep, taking a rest from eating
2:25 pm:  back to eating
2:45 pm:  load up and go to grocery store
Lennon was very good at the store.  Happily chewed on her Sophie.
3:40 pm:  return from groceries, fell asleep in the car, napping
4:25 pm:  wake up
4:30 pm:  playing
4:40 pm:  eating, diaper change
5:15 pm:  playing on play mat so I can try to start dinner
5:40 pm:  Dad gets home, takes over entertaining Lennon so I can finish dinner
6:05 pm:  into the Jolly Jumper so we can eat dinner.  She really loves the Jolly Jumper!
6:30 pm:  gear up and go for a walk
7:20 pm:  return from walk, fell asleep during the walk - have to wake up to get ready for bed!
7:30 pm:  bath, pajamas
7:40 pm:  eating
8:05 pm:  fast asleep :)

And then it all starts over!

Hold Me Tight

My two loves!
Well, our house is slowly filling up with and being taken over by baby things!  Lennon now has a new floor seat and a Jolly Jumper to play in.  We had to get a Jolly Jumper that's on a stand so it takes up a bit of space!  She does enjoy playing on her floor mat, in the Exersaucer (still mostly just chewing the toys), in her floor seat, and now in the Jolly Jumper.  Although in the jumper she just kind of hung there and chewed on the straps.  Lots of things to do!

Exersaucer, Floor seat, Jolly Jumper - so much to do!
We set up her crib this past weekend too.  She's had a few successful naps in there.  Soon we'll try her in there at night.  I'm just not quite ready to give up having her right next to our bed.  It's not because I'll miss having her in there (well, maybe a bit) but I'll miss the ease of just grabbing her for quick feeds in the night.  And early in the morning I take her in the bed and lay down to feed her when I'm still super tired.  With her in the crib I'll have to get up and go down the hall - she's still getting up a few times a night.  Ok, we'll try a few days of crib naps and then maybe a night!

Checking out the crib, Nap time!
We've had some good weather lately and have been able to get outside.  I put Lennon in the seat of her stroller (rather than putting the car seat on the stroller) for the first time.  She liked it and promptly fell asleep during our walk around the neighbourhood.
