Cry Baby Cry

Well, we made it to Ontario. The flight did not go as smoothly as our flight to and from Palm Springs. Lennon decided to absolutely lose it. She howled inconsolably for about half an hour and again a bit later. No matter what we did, change her, rock her, try to feed her, nothing worked. It was quite stressful!  She did calm down and fall asleep eventually but getting there was a battle. She missed a feeding time and a nap time through all the crying which I think contributed to the melt down. I don't know if there's much worse than a screaming baby on an airplane!  It caused instant anxiety for both Fred and me.
We're in Bowmanville with Grandma and Gramps now. They are thrilled to have us!  We're happy to be here and it's nice to have the extra hands around too!  Lennon's nap routine has been a little off. At home I usually put her in her swing for naps. So now that there's no swing she doesn't go down quite as easily. Probably my own fault for using the swing so much. Shes also only taking half hour naps throughout the day. At home she'll go an hour or two. She's happy the rest of the day though. She gets lots of attention and play time!  On Saturday she got to meet Aunt and Unc (my aunt and uncle) and Pam and Bob (my cousin and her husband). Everyone was excited to meet her and she was full of smiles!
Lennon is now grabbing toys more and more. She likes to grab them and immediately put them in her mouth. She has also started to buzz her lips and blow bubbles. It's pretty cute. She babbles and coos more as well. I think that's all the new things she's doing lately. She changes so fast!
On the plane, still happy

This is the only picture I can figure out to add right now. More to come later.

You've Really Got a Hold on Me

We had a good Easter weekend.  Had Easter dinner on Friday and a brunch on Sunday.  The Easter bunny was at brunch but Lennon was un-phased (see pic)!  The weather on the weekend was decent so we got in a couple of nice walks too.  One with Tami at North Glenmore park and one along the river path across the road from our house.  Hopefully this means that spring is now here?!

Lennon continues to change and grow everyday.  She is now babbling a lot more.  Her favourite time to talk seems to be at night when Fred is changing her into her pajamas.  It's so cute!  She also intentionally grabbed onto a toy for the first time yesterday!  Her grabbing is still tentative and not always on purpose but she has actually looked at the toy and moved her had to grab it a number of times now.  Her favourite to grab is her little Sophie the Giraffe teething ring.  She still prefers to just put her fingers in her mouth to suck on but is slowly starting to learn that she can control the Sophie with her hands and put it in her mouth.  I just love watching her learn new things!

Sleep is still going well.  That's all I'm going to say about it this time.

At three and a half months old Lennon will be going on her second flight already!  On Friday we head to Ontario for a couple of weeks to visit Grandma and Gramps.  Lennon will also get to meet Aunt and Unc, cousins Pam and Bob and later Uncle Steve, Auntie Heather and cousins Hendrik and Alana!  I'm very excited for everyone to meet her and to see everyone again!

We got a call that our nursery furniture is in!  We just have to arrange to borrow a truck to pick it up.  Then we can finally set up Lennon's room!  Yay!

Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da

Lennon is 3 months old!  Wow, the time goes fast.  She no longer seems like a little newborn baby.  She's grown so much in the last couple of weeks.  She's holding her head up strong, is doing great with tummy time, loves to smile at herself in the mirror, is more alert and interactive, loves to suck on her hands, and is starting to make babbling sounds (see videos below!).  It's really cool to watch her take in the world around her.

Sleep.  I haven't talked about that in a while!  At the risk of jinxing it...sleep is going really well.  We've had a few nights this week where she slept 7-9 hours straight!  I felt like a different person after those nights.  It's not quite consistent yet, and I'm not holding my breath because I know it can change.  In fact last night she did a "short" five and a half hour stretch. But, things are definitely better in the sleep department.  She's taking better and more consistent day time naps as well.

It is now really hard to imagine our lives without Lennon.  Even though we sometimes long for the days when we could leave the house in an instant, go to a movie, have some adult time, sleep, we are both totally in love with her and wouldn't trade her for anything!  She's definitely changed our lives for the better!

Here Comes the Sun - Part Two

Lennon was great on the plane!  She fell asleep before take off and slept through it. During the flight she ate, slept, and smiled at us.  I had my ring sling with me which was great for on the plane. I was able to pop her in there while she slept which gave me free hands to read a magazine. I also changed her diaper in the tiny bathroom which wasn't as bad or as difficult as I thought it would be.  She nursed for some of the descent and fell asleep for landing!  All in all I'd say it was a very successful first flight!  We picked up our three suitcases, car seat, stroller, and bassinet and were off.

Palm Springs is great!  It is beautiful and sunny everyday. We've had temps well into the 30s. Our vacation rental is wonderful with a great outdoor space and nice pool. Lennon seems to be just in awe of everything around her. She is constantly looking around with her big, wide eyes and a look of wonder. It's really neat to watch her try to take everything in. I wonder what's going on in that little head!

Lennon had her first swim!  The pool is nice and warm so it's perfect for her. Again she had a look of wonder on her face and seemed to like it. She didn't complain at all. The second time I took her in she started kicking her legs and flapping her arms happily. It was really cute!

We've been having a great time so far. We've done some shopping and hit the outlet mall of course. Yesterday we drove out to Laguna Beach on the coast. It was beautiful there. We did a walk on the boardwalk, dipped our feet in the ocean (cold!), had a nice lunch and walked through the town. It's a really nice spot. The beach is quite beautiful there. We didn't put Lennon in the ocean.  It was too cold and she was sleeping soundly on me in her carrier. Next time we're near the coast we'll have to see what she thinks!

The rest of the week will be more pool time, touring around the area and just enjoying the warmth and sun. We go back home on Saturday and of course they're calling for snow that day.

Pics of our trip will have to follow next week when we're back home.

Here Comes the Sun

Tomorrow we take Lennon on her first trip!  We are off to Palm Springs for some much needed warmth (heat actually) and sunshine.  We had more snow here last night.  Today is packing day.  That is a totally different experience with a baby!  I'll probably take too much but want to make sure I have everything she could possibly need.  The list is long.  I wonder how many suitcases it's going to take!  Lol!  We're really excited to take Lennon on her first trip.  We'll be taking her in a pool for the first time!  There will be lots of photos coming!!

I didn't get any pics posted last time so here we go...
